Common questions about the JAC Class 8 syllabus
How many subjects are there in JAC Class 8?
Five compulsory subjects — Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English and Hindi (Course A/B) — plus optional third-language subjects such as Sanskrit or Urdu, depending on the school.
Is the JAC Class 8 exam fully objective?
Yes. Each subject carries 50 marks — 40 marks from a multiple-choice (OMR sheet) paper and 10 marks from school-level internal assessment. There are no descriptive/long-answer questions at this level.
Who prepares the JAC Class 8 syllabus?
The Jharkhand Council of Educational Research & Training (JCERT) prepares the syllabus in line with the NCERT curriculum, and the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi conducts the annual examination based on it.
What is the minimum passing percentage for Class 8?
Students need a minimum of 33% (around 17 out of 50) in each subject, and must pass at least 4 of the 5 compulsory subjects to be promoted to Class 9.
