FAQs

Common questions about the JAC Class 11 syllabus

How many streams does JAC offer in Class 11?

Three — Science, Commerce and Arts/Humanities. Each stream has its own set of core subjects alongside compulsory language papers (English and Hindi or Sanskrit).

Is the Class 11 exam pattern the same across all 3 streams?

Yes. Every subject in every stream is assessed the same way — 40 MCQs (1 mark each, OMR sheet, no negative marking) plus a 10-mark school-level internal assessment, for 50 marks total.

Can I switch streams after Class 11?

Generally no — most JAC-affiliated schools require you to continue in the same stream through Class 12, since board exam registration and subject combinations are stream-locked. Check with your school for exceptions.

What is the minimum passing percentage for Class 11?

Students need a minimum of 33% (around 17 out of 50) in each subject to be promoted to Class 12.

Who prepares the JAC Class 11 syllabus?

The Jharkhand Council of Educational Research & Training (JCERT), along with the Jharkhand Education Project Council, prepares the syllabus in line with the NCERT curriculum for all three streams.
