Common questions about the JAC Class 12 syllabus
How many streams does JAC offer in Class 12?
Three main streams — Science, Commerce and Arts/Humanities — with a Vocational stream also available at select schools. Each stream carries 5 subjects: compulsory languages plus stream-specific core subjects.
Why do some Class 12 subjects have 70+30 marks instead of 80+20?
Subjects with a compulsory practical component — Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography in some schools — carry 70 theory marks and 30 practical marks. Non-practical subjects like Mathematics, History, Accountancy or Business Studies follow the standard 80 theory + 20 internal-assessment split.
Is Class 12 the final JAC board exam?
Yes — Class 12 (Intermediate Part II) is JAC's board-level examination, and the marksheet from this exam is what's used for college admissions and most competitive exam eligibility.
Who prepares the JAC Class 12 syllabus?
The Jharkhand Council of Educational Research & Training (JCERT), along with the Jharkhand Education Project Council, prepares the syllabus in line with the NCERT curriculum for all streams, and JAC conducts the board examination based on it.
What is the minimum passing percentage for Class 12?
Students need a minimum of 33% overall in every subject — for example, at least 26/80 in theory and 7/20 in internal assessment (or 23/70 theory and 10/30 practical for lab-based subjects).
